The mascot
Bari, your learned friend.
A barrister in wig and bands, drawn on a 16 × 18 pixel grid. The wig’s curl rows are the most recognisable thing about the Nigerian Bar’s dress, so they carry the drawing. On a dark ground Bari is drawn with a light outline, like a figure caught in lamplight. Bari stands wherever Barilex is working or waiting: beside the waitlist and in empty and loading states. On the shelf that opens the home page, Bari walks end to end, touching each book in turn until the right volume comes out.

Logo
The mark, then the name.
The mark is a broken ring of square blocks. Two of them are crimson: one sits inside the ring and one steps outside it. The wordmark is drawn rather than typed, in rounded-square letters, and the dot of its i is a smaller square in the same crimson.
Draw the mark at an even number of pixels per block, so every edge stays sharp, including the half-block step in the top bar, and leave one cap height of clear space all round. In one colour, the crimson squares take the colour of the rest. For favicons and avatars, set the mark alone on its night tile. Bari is the mascot and never stands in for the mark.
Colour
Night, paper, and the bindings of law reports.
The site sits on night. Paper is kept for documents: judgments, drafts, records and briefs. Crimson tape is the only colour that asks for action. Green, amber and red also mean verified, corrected and removed, and appear with a word every time.
Type
Three voices, never mixed.
Instrument Sans is Barilex speaking. Source Serif is the court’s own words. Geist is the agent’s working. A reader should always know whose words they’re reading.

Pixel set
Drawn from the profession’s own objects.
Every sprite is inline SVG on a whole-pixel grid with crisp edges, so it stays sharp at any whole-number size, and it takes its colours from the site’s tokens. No gavels or scales: the set draws on what Nigerian lawyers actually carry and wear.
Eyebrow label
ProposedSC · 20099 verified- Documents are paper. Flags mark what Barilex changed.
Controls
One action colour. Flags on paper.
Primary actions use crimson tape. Secondary actions are outlined or underlined, never filled. On paper, Barilex marks its changes with margin flags, the way a clerk tabs a court bundle. States always pair a colour with a word, so they read without colour too.
